Communicating Culture With Integrity – Geoffrey Wexler

Founder and Chairman of Kiyuki Incorporated, Geoffrey Wexler currently leads the International Division at Studio Ponoc, and has worked with Studio Ghibli, Studio, Mano Animation Studios and other leading giants in the world of animated films. From his work on Studio Ponoc’s ‘Mary and the Witch’s Flower’ which debuted at PIFF’19, Mr. Wexler is known for working with authenticity while sharing stories and films with the world.

During an hour-long workshop at PIFF Animation 2019, Mr. Wexler held an innovative discussion, offering an insight into his world as a producer and how to honor culture while providing an honest storytelling experience, all the while staying true to the original production of a film.

Potential of Animation in Pakistan – Challenges & Opportunities

Under the moderation of filmmaker Sana Tauseef, the panelists for the seminar included Kamran Khan, Amyn Farooqui, Aziz Jindani, Daniyal Noorani, Imran Ali Dina, Asif Iqbal and the Chief Guest, Mr. Murtaza Wahab. The seminar addressed the issues, challenges, obstacles and growth opportunities for the Animation Industry in Pakistan, and for its future development.

SCREENINGS

With venues selected to show special screenings for underprivileged children, animated films were screened at Capri Cinema and Nueplex Cinemas to name a few, The donkey King, Allahyar, The legend of Markhor, Quaid se baatain, 3 bahadur rise of the warriors and many more. PIFF’19 engaged diverse communities in the city to participate and unite under the banner of ‘cinematic appreciation’ in Pakistan.
